Venice Film Festival 2024: All the best celebrity red carpet looks so far

The annual Venice Film Festival, often dubbed the older sister to the flashier Cannes Film Festival, is back at the iconic Lido of Hotel Excelsior, which plays host to a number of buzzy film premieres this year from Joker: Folie à Deux, to Beetlejuice Beetlejuice. With it comes the flurry of A-list celebrities that descended on the floating city via – what else? – water taxis. Unlike Cannes, whose red carpet has arguably become more popular than the festival itself, Venice's step-and-repeat invites more, well, demure ensembles from their stars.

Rather than donning giant gowns that can be seen from space, leadings stars tend to opt for classic glamour on the red carpet, sprinkled with effortless looks that showcase their personalities while attending intimate parties off the Lido. For instance, we've loved how Jenna Ortega wore a sweet custom Christian Dior number with matching red eye shadow for her big moment before swapping the gown for a crisp burgundy Paul Smith suit for a smaller photo call. Very mindful.

Venice regulars Cate Blanchett and Angelina Jolie also brought their A-game, showing off their seasoned style in a velvet jumpsuit and floaty boho dress respectively, while Hollywood legends like Catherine O'Hara and Isabelle Huppert stunned in couture.
