This year has given us plenty of pop-culture queens to look to for Halloween costume ideas – but we've officially set our sights on finding an Olivia Rodrigo Halloween costume. From Taylor Swift and Sabrina Carpenter to Charli XCX's Brat summer, there's no denying our fave singers always make for great costume inspiration, but if you want an easy fancy dress idea that's fun – and, let's be real – still quite stylish, an Olivia Rodrigo outfit isn't a bad idea right?
The Disney alum might have been first known for her part in the streamer's series remake of High School Musical, but it was when she released her album Sour back in 2021 that she really got our attention. It wasn't just the songs that had us hooked (although good 4 u is a certified bop), Olivia's Y2K looks and her love for plaid and corsets – most likely in her recognisable lilac – have made her a style icon in her own right. And don't get me started on the Guts World Tour ‘fits. Okay, do.

If you did the cheerleader good 4 u or the Sour album cover stickers for Halloween 2023, maybe you want a more current Olivia style this year. The Guts World Tour has given us some of her most iconic looks to date, for which she's brought sparkly but balanced 'fits with chunky boots and undone hair. If you want to cosplay pop star for the night, this look is one of my favourites.
All you need to replicate this tour costume is some sequin shorts and a slogan tank top. To really master the look, add some rhinestone embellished tights, boots and a microphone as your new favourite accessory. You probably saw Olivia singing get him back into a megaphone on stage on TikTok – or maybe you were lucky enough to get tickets to see it IRL. Adding one to your outfit would make it even more iconic.
Look 2: Olivia Rodrigo Off-Duty
But make it vampire
Olivia is obviously known for her cool-girl street style looks. She elevates any outfit with sleek sunglasses and understated silver jewellery. If you love Liv's day-to-day style you can totally make it halloween – or in this case vampire. Get an Olivia graphic tee to nod to a style she loves to wear herself, and pair with a mini skirt and some loafers. Sunglasses are essential to really nail the celeb's style – and of course, finish with a red lip. Or even better, some fake blood in homage to Olivia's music video look for vampire. After all, it's spooky szn.
Look 3: Award-Winning Olivia Rodrigo
The award for best halloween costume goes to…
In 2021, Olivia picked up 'Song Of The Year' at the MTV VMAs for drivers license – citing it as the ‘most magical year of [my] her life’. Her outfit was pretty magical too, which she wore to perform good 4 u for MTV's audience.
So if you want an award-winning Halloween costume this year, recreate this Olivia look with a lilac dress, preferably one that incorporates lace and a corset-style top like this Loba mini dress. Add long gloves and fishnet tights, which are seen in a lot of Olivia's best ‘fits. Finish the VMA-inspired costume with butterfly hair clips and jewellery, not forgetting your award – duh, you’ve totally earned it.
Look 4: Olivia Rodrigo Goes To Glastonbury

We all remember this iconic look. Olivia took to the stage at Glastonbury 2022 with an unforgettable set. It wasn't just her music that made it stand out, she also brought Lily Allen on stage to accompany her. And of course, she did it all in classic Olivia style.
You can still shop the Chopova Lowena bikini Olivia wore on stage, and at a great sale price, but be quick – it's nearly sold out! An alternative we love is the Hunza G swimsuit in lilac (obvs). Whichever you go for, finish with a pattern skirt – preferably plaid, because you know, Olivia. If her usual boots aren't for you, Converse are also a good fit for Liv's festival style.
Look 5: Olivia Rodrigo on the Red Carpet
When fancy dress is a fancy dress
It's not just festival and tour looks we love on Olivia. She also gets red carpet dressing right every time – whether she's at the MET Gala or the VMAs. Last year, Olivia sparkled on the carpet at the MTV VMAs before she switched into a red two piece to perform vampire and get him back. If you want to do fancy-dress-but-glam this year, this is the look I recommend emulating. Find a silver maxi dress – I love this sheer one on ASOS – some embellished accessories and a nude lip, and you're ready for your red carpet moment. Hosting a Halloween party this year? Take the red carpet theme up a notch with a novelty carpet to snap your friends on.
