Dressing Room Diaries

Rixo is so good right now – these are the pieces I've added to my basket

So much more than just gorgeous floral dresses (although there are, of course, gorgeous floral dresses).

I've never met a Rixo dress that I didn't like. They've seen me through many a wedding, work event and celebratory drinks do. The hand-painted, vintage-inspired prints are unlike anything else in the mid-range fashion market – hovering between high-street and high-end – and the best part? They always fit so well, which is what happens when a brand designs clothes with different bodies and shapes in mind (most pieces in the collection go up to a size 26).

So, I headed to Rixo's flagship London store on King's Road – an interior lover's dream with a cocktail bar, coffee shop, pre-loved and rental rails, bridal suite and alterations desk – to try on some of their new range and a few pieces from the classic collection.

First impressions: there's way more to this brand than just floral gowns. The printed slip skirts, the slogan tees, the romantic ruffled blouses, the retro-print dresses, the statement jackets, the *mega* shoes, jewellery and accessories – honestly, I could've spent hours in here. But sadly I was only on my lunch break, and it probably wouldn't have looked great if I returned to my desk three hours later weighed down with Rixo bags. Although I was very tempted.

Here's everything I tried on in Rixo for this week's Dressing Room Diaries

The Floral Midi Dress

Cheryl Silk Midi Dress

Okay, I know this is the stuff Rixo is known for so this isn't exactly a newsflash, but hear me out: this is one of the most beautiful and versatile floral dresses I've ever tried on. It's obviously perfect for events and weddings, but can easily be dressed down during the day under an oversized jumper with trainers. The cost-per-wear for this dress basically makes it a no-brainer.

The bias cut and silk crepe de chine fabric are super flattering, while the draped open back is – I can confirm – bra-friendly! Hurrah!

The Horoscope Tee

Kelly Silk Midi Skirt

Ria Zodiac T-Shirt

I know you lovely GLAMOUR readers love a horoscope as much as I do, so here's the tee for you!

It's lightweight, cropped and looks great tucked into pretty much anything – your favourite jeans, a printed skirt (as I am here) or a textured mini skirt. It fits true to size, so if you're after a baggier fit, I suggest sizing up. Plus, as you can see from the glow of my bright white bra, the fabric is slightly sheer, so choose your underwear wisely (or unwisely, depending on how much you're embracing brat summer).

The Ruffled Blouse

Cicelia Cotton Blouse

Ardith Midi Skirt

I didn't know my wardrobe needed a vintage-style, ruffled blouse until I tried this on. The cotton-voile fabric is soft and breathable (perfect for summer) and I love the buttoned cuffs.

I tried it on with the Ardith Midi Skirt, but day-to-day I'd probably toughen up the ultra-feminine top with something edgier on the bottom – some baggy boyfriend jeans or jorts with some chunky boots or my favourite Nike Cortez trainers.

The Silk Gown

Linnett Ruffled Silk Gown

Everything about this dress is show-stopping. The silk fabric, the ‘60s-inspired floral print, the bra-safe open back, the elegant drape of the silhouette, the flattering fitted waist, the balloon sleeves and cuffs – all of it, it’s just *chef's kiss*.

It's of course a bit more of a financial investment than other Rixo pieces as it's part of their premium Gold Collection, but if you can, it's absolutely worth it.

The Retro Print Dress

Alexa Silk Scarf

Sandrine Midi Dress

I predict a sell-out with this retro swirl print dress. I've styled it here with the matching silk scarf and gold belt (similar here), but it would look great with any thrifted jewellery and accessories you have at home.
