Uniqlo still feels like a new addition to my high-street rotation, even though it actually opened its first store in London way back in the mid-2000s (and a store in Bluewater, my local mall, back in 2010). Tbh, I don’t know what I’ve been doing all this time. Living under a rock? Probably buried under a pile of questionable fashion choices and lacklustre basics.
Uniqlo might have been around for a while, but to me, the Japanese brand still feels like a fresh gem on the high street.
One thing I've learned: this isn't just another retailer trying to sell you overpriced basics. Instead, Uniqlo is all about combining style with function: bringing you effortlessly cool pieces and incredibly practical. It's like they took the concept of a capsule wardrobe and turned it into an art form. Every time I walk in, I know I’ll be walking out with staple items I’ll have for years, where minimalism meets maximum versatility.
Speaking of which, have you seen their latest drop? Now, I know that getting excited about an influx of fall/winter fashion makes me a summer Scrooge, but part of me is buzzing for the chill to set in. There's something about Uniqlo's neutral colour palette, co-ord sets, and layering ethos that makes me want to serve main character energy while walking through Greenwich Park clutching a pumpkin spice latte. Plus, with autumn 2024 trends leaning towards rich, moody hues like deep burgundy and shades of olive green (groundbreaking) Uniqlo’s collections are spot on.
Structured, collared jackets that bring an androgynous coolness to an otherwise basic fit. An endless array of matching items to create co-ords for any occasion. And let’s not forget the art of layering— which Uniqlo is basically the Picasso of. Think: turtlenecks under winter dresses, oversized jumpers over comfy trousers, and their famous fleece-lined leggings with a matching tee and quarter zip. Whether it’s their iconic HEATTECH for those frosty mornings or the ultra-light down jackets that somehow manage to be both lightweight and warm, Uniqlo's got you covered. Literally.

The Classic White Shirt
A crisp white shirt is an absolute staple – not only in a workwear wardrobe, but for weekends, date nights and brunches with the girls, too. I was due a new one, and so taking this sub-£30 option home with me was a no-brainer. The quality feels exceptional, it doesn't crease easily and it wasn't at all see-through. I'll be wearing mine open, over a tank top and with light-wash jeans – and with dark denim in the autumn.
The Three-Piece Gym Set
I’m simply obsessed with this three-piece look. It’s giving athleisure in all the right ways. Uniqlo's Airism range comes in multiple colours and a variety of styles, making it super easy to mix and match.
I popped on the AIRism flared leggings, which gave the comfort and shaping of the viral Tala yoga pants, and paired them with the AIRism Sleeveless Bra Top (yes, it has a bra built into the top!), and Full-Zip Jacket. This combo is perfect for keeping me looking sporty while I unashamedly neglect my gym membership now we’re officially moving back into cosy szn. With Uniqlo’s famous round mini shoulder bag slung across the ‘fit, I could see this look taking me from yoga to a coffee date.
The Workwear Co-Ord
Anything that makes getting dressed in the morning easy is a win with me - and this cute two-piece set definitely fit the bill. When I say it feels like you're wearing pyjamas but still looks smart and professional, I think you'll be with me. Oh, and it's in the sale, too.
The Pea Coat
This was the jacket that made me excited for autumn: not my usual style but so cute when buttoned up and paired with an oversized scrunchie.
I also couldn't go into Uniqlo and not pick up a few of their (fascinatingly affordable) round mini shoulder bags. I don't have a corduroy iteration in my collection, so that was a must – but I also loved their crochet bags for summer. Pictured down below.
The Knitted Midi
Et, viola! Said crochet round mini crossbody bag, paired with another super-cute co-ord. This one could definitely be worn in the UK while it's still sunny (the short length of the skirt and the sleeveless cut to the jumper make it surprisingly breathable), but it'd work just as well layered atop some thermal layers and paired with chunky winter boots come autumn. Uniqlo, you've done it again.
