Why we love it: The latest opening from the Cubitt House Group, The Princess Royal, is now open in the heart of Notting Hill – and boy is it worth a visit. After a major renovation which has restored the building to its former glory, the property boasts a beautiful restaurant and bar downstairs (more on that later), plus four relaxing and elegantly-designed bedrooms which are perfect for a city staycation.
The bedrooms – as well as the opulent restaurant interiors – have been designed by Director Georgie Pearman, and inspired by the pub's Victorian heritage, are rich in textures, fabrics and colour. Think: hand-printed wallpaper, colour-pop velvet headboards and free-standing bath tubs sitting under large, abstract canvases. Georgie has highlighted British suppliers in the bedrooms, through partnerships with British bathroom manufacturer Lefroy Brooks, plus Rapture & Wright, the brains behind many of the hand-printed fabrics and wallpapers on show. The result is a photogenic yet cosy and functional space which acts as a total sanctuary from the bustling streets of West London below.
As for the restaurant and bar? It's open for breakfast, lunch, dinner and drinks – serving a selection of sharing and main plates influenced by the flavours of the Mediterranean. Chef Director Ben Tish is the brains behind the divine dishes on offer: the Fiorentina-style T-bone steak from the Josper oven and the indulgent lemon curd doughnuts among our most-loved.

Why we love it: We’ve been obsessed with The Ned since the day it opened back in 2017. It’s a five-star establishment which makes you feel like you’ve stepped into 1900s New York from the moment you enter. It has 250 bedrooms, ten restaurants, a spa, a gym and a private members club - the ground floor Malibu Kitchen serves an insane breakfast. You’ll want to stay for a week, let alone a night.

Why we love it: Somewhat of a hidden gem, The Kensington Hotel is arguably one of the best hotels in the Royal Borough, beloved by locals and in-the-know tourists alike. It also serves the best cocktails in its supremely sexy K Bar (truly one of the most delicious martinis we’ve ever sampled).
As befits its location – slap-bang in the middle of South Kensington where Queen’s Gate meets the Old Brompton Road – the whole place has an undeniable charm to it, with its stucco-fronted entrance and elegant, classic yet fun and colourful interiors. Plus a gorgeous art collection. But it's the hotel staff who are arguably the most charming of the whole experience: warm, welcoming, and all with a twinkle in their eyes, especially when it comes to knowledge of the wine list.
The Townhouse restaurant is delightful for both breakfast, lunch and dinner (the Iberico pork chop and burrata paired with a pinot noir was fantastic, FYI). And their afternoon tea is a gorgeous way to unwind after a day at the museums, for which the location is of course perfectly situated, a mere 5 minutes walk from the Natural History Museum, V&A and the Science Museum. It’s also just a short way to Hyde Park – or a few minutes' ride on a bespoke blue Pashley bicycle, which the hotel can loan to guests with a freshly prepared picnic to order.
As befits one of the capital’s most romantic hotels, the rooms – ranging from the suites on the first floor to the cosier rooms on the top floor – are so gorgeous, you won’t want to leave! Which is good, because their room service is also impeccable.

Why we love it: We’ve been dreaming of staying in one of the Artist Residence hotels forever. Each and every one (London, Brighton, Oxford and Penzance) are Instagram heavens, with their London offering sitting pretty between the realms of Chelsea, the Tate and Westminster. Downstairs is an all-day hangout and restaurant complete with pop art, neon and shabby chic decor. In the basement, there’s a speak-easy style cocktail den. Most romantic hotel in East London
Why we love it: Thanks to its stellar location aside London's Liverpool Street station, you'd be forgiven for thinking Hyatt's Andaz Liverpool Street concept was a commuter hotel – the perfect base for bank-going businesswomen – and nothing more. After all, said accessibility and the early-morning breakfast offering could easily throw you off scent. But things are not all as they seem.
From the moment you step into the vibrant, mood-lit lobby – adorned with modern art, murals and jungle-themed wallpaper inspired by its colourful neighbourhood – you realise Andaz is an entire destination in itself. Not just a pre-meeting stopover. The Tower of London, bustling Spitalfields market, St Paul’s Cathedral and Whitechapel Gallery are all within walking distance, and the relaxed-yet-efficient staff cannot do enough to make you feel serene and ready to kick-back immediately.
There are 267 bedrooms decorated in contrastingly muted tones – aside a few injections of red and orange – with impossibly-high ceilings (for the most part), supremely comfortable beds, minibars with free snacks, and a selection of luxe toiletries formulated by local brand T-London. All hidden down quiet, maze-like corridors. 14 of their rooms are “large suites” with separate living areas – ideal for a longer stay – and one room is entitled the Design Suite, created by the late Sir Terence Conran.
Downstairs, there are five wonderful bars and restaurants – granted, a little busier with those enjoying a post-work re-fuel – from Japanese restaurant Miyako to classic pub Lady Abercorn’s. We ate in Rake’s, which serves Hogarth-inspired cocktails and small plates (the spiced cauliflower popcorn and salt and pepper calamari are not to be missed), but were still hungry enough to tuck into one of the best hotel breakfasts I've had in a long time the following morning. It's also worth noting that in the centre of the hotel, there is another bar, complete with 24-hour access pool tables for a bit of healthy date night competition. A mid-week stay was quiet, convenient and mood-boosting – and one I definitely hope to repeat.

Why we love it: Tucked away down a charming mews just a hop, skip and a jump from Soho’s renowned Dean Street Townhouse, the Soho Hotel is awash with colour and tasteful maximalist decor, courtesy of Kit Kemp. The restaurant-come-bar is warmly lit and greets guests with the comforting buzz of visitors sipping away on delectable drinks, while the unique cinema viewing rooms provide a welcome reprieve from the hustle and bustle of London’s hectic Leicester Square cinemas. The suites are crisp, clean and immaculately styled. Think: Florals meets mid-century. To stay at the Soho Hotel is to know the feeling of a really good night’s sleep after an evening on the town in the centre of London’s best night out.
Our pick of the foodie delights at your disposal? Kricket. Physically, it’s just short 5-minute walk from the Soho Hotel, but you’ll be taking a journey all the way to India for a meal of parathas, pakoras and tandoori-fired poussin. The perfectly balanced flavours of the Bhel Puri will forever remain in my mind, while the well-rounded notes of the Don One mezcal cocktail made for a light and refreshing aperitif. After a digestif post-meal? Head to Basement Sate - it’s right behind the hotel! Choose from your classic Champagne cocktails and mojitos or take a leap of faith with one of their ‘fancy Tom Collins’ or ‘sharing jars.’ If you want my advice, I’d opt for the latter - these guys know what they’re doing.
After waking up to a selection of pastries, eggs ‘your way’ and all sorts of English breakfast staples, head out into the heart of Soho for a spot of shopping. As a GANNI sweater-vest fanatic, the pastel-swathed walls of the brand’s Beak St. store came a’ callin’. I grabbed this magenta two-piece ahead of the promise of a long, hot summer but, if you’re more one for laid-back sportswear or perhaps sustainable denim, the likes of Wood Wood and Nudie Jeans will be right up your street. There really is something for everyone - and make sure to check out Ffern for vegan and organic fragrances (that all your friends won’t already have…). Happy holidays!

Why we love it: Is there anything more romantic than the dreamy duo of shopping plus cocktails? The Marriott Hotel Grosvenor Square is the perfect choice if your idea of romance involves retail therapy à deux followed by cocktails and a luxury space to collapse into afterwards.
The hotel is situated just a short stroll from Selfridges in one direction and from Liberty of London in the other, so you can shop all day and then hide away together in the stylishly secluded Luggage Room Bar for delicious bespoke cocktails. This little hidden bar is the perfect address to kick off your date night and the cocktails are super chic, as are the waiters!
Then, onto dinner - and more cocktails - at the Gordon Ramsey Bar and Grill or, if you are lucky enough to get your hands on a reservation, at the hotel's aptly named Lucky Cat: the latest from Gordon Ramsey at The Marriott. Leave plenty of time to snuggle up in what is, in our opinion, the most cloud-like of beds we have ever experienced and not to mention the marble topped bathroom where you can even watch the tv from the bath tub. The hotel also does an insanely good breakfast with all the trimmings. You will leave with a spring in your step and the Marriott Hotel Grosvenor Square firmly bookmarked a favourite.
Most romantic boutique hotel in Chelsea
Why we love it: Could there be a more perfect example of the local, London, neighbourhood boutique hotel than this charming Chelsea treasure, 11 Cadogan Gardens? We think not. Tucked away behind Sloane Square and with an entrance on the popular pedestrian shopping and dining street, Pavilion Road, 11 Cadogan Gardens is perfectly placed to enjoy all that Chelsea has to offer. From the Saatchi Gallery to shopping meccas of the Kings Road, Sloane Street and Knightsbridge, it is walking distance to all the attractions of SW3. And the river and Hyde Park are also within walking distance (about 20 - 30 minutes.) And while, we appreciate, shopping might not be the most, ahem, romantic of pastimes for some of your other halves, fear not, because the hotel itself makes up for romance in buckets. From the moment you walk into the dimly lit lobby (that also smells divine) the whole property has an understated, old school romance vibe, but with a twist of modernity. The restaurant, Hans Bar and Grill served an exquisite lunch (we recommend the octopus and the Caesar salad) with a perfect wine pairing. And the staff could not have been more attentive. The rooms and suites are cosy and each uniquely designed and The Chelsea Bar is undeniably one of the sexiest places in the whole of the royal borough to sink a nightcap.

Belmond Cadogan Hotel, Chelsea
Why we love it: Belmond Hotels are honestly the best in the world and if you've been fortunate to stay at one, you'll be in the know. That's exactly why The Cadogan, the group's offering located between Chelsea and Knightsbridge, is a must-stay. Located a stone's throw from both bustling Knightsbridge and chilled Chelsea, The Cadogan is the perfect spot for a romantic city break. With 54 impeccably designed rooms (two-thirds of which are suites by the way), cosy interiors such as fireplaces, stained-glass windows, gold-leaf wall sconces and incredible art, it's the perfect spot for holing up for a celebratory night of romance. You may be in the centre of town but the hotel also benefits from its fantastic position overlooking the private Cadogan Palace Gardens, which guests have exclusive access to.
History buffs will fall in love with the place. It dates back to 1887 and is made up of restored Queen Anne-style buildings once home to the super chic socialite Lillie Langry (her original floorings have been restored and make for perfect 'from where I stand' Insta pics). The charming property was also a firm favourite hangout of Oscar Wilde so expect to see nods to the poet and playwright at every turn (look out for the crystal-embellished ostrich named after him). Oscar's room of choice —room 118— where he was arrested with a bottle of something alcoholic in hand (!) is now the hotel’s Royal Suite, complete stunning views, an epic corner bath and personal butler service.
The food is also fantastic so you won't need to leave. Kick off proceedings with a cocktail (the bartenders will surprise you with something deliciously strong) before dinner, which is under the culinary direction of celebrated chef, Adam Handling. Fans of Adam will know he's all about the seasonal, sustainably sourced ingredients and giving his own take on British classics. The homemade bread and cheese doughnuts with sinfully salty butter are next-level, beef tartare with crispy shallot and oyster makes the perfect starter and the steaks served with onion rings are out of this world.
When you're ready to retire to your room, drifting off to a blissful night's sleep won't be a problem because the hotel has launched The Sleep Concierge - a brand-new service in partnership with esteemed Harley Street Hypnotherapist and Sleep Expert, Malminder Gill. You get a pillow menu with a choice of luxurious pillows and a weighted blanket, a bedtime tea developed by The Cadogan that's perfect for sipping in the bath, a dreamy scented pillow mist and a sleep-inducing meditative recording by Malminder. Why we love it: Nestled in the heart of Mayfair, The Chesterfield Hotel is just a short walk away from Green Park, Buckingham Palace, Oxford Street, Carnaby Street and Soho. Why we love it: Not only is the five star boutique, South Place Hotel the perfect location for exploring the bright lights and city bars of Shoreditch or the shopping heaven of Spitalfields market - both in walking distance - it also boasts a Michelin star restaurant! Yup, the Angler restaurant atop of the hotel has fantastic views over the city and a British, seasonal menu, including a great selection of seafood from executive chef, Gary Foulkes. Why we love it: The Dean Street Townhouse is owned by the Soho House group, so you know it’s going to be pretty spectacular. It’s a Georgian townhouse with 39 beautiful bedrooms in a variety of different sizes. And if you don’t have much money to spend, don’t worry. The “tiny” room costs £180 per night and it’s almost more romantic than the hotel’s larger offerings.

Why we love it: Get excited because Nobu has just opened the doors to its latest hotel (the 13th from the portfolio) in the heart of London. Nobu Hotel London Portman Square is smack bang on the corner of Marylebone’s Portman Square (you'll spot the Instagrammable entrance and prime real estate outdoor terrace) and has 249 bedrooms, the iconic Nobu Restaurant & Bar and an impressive Pilates studio.
The reason the hotel is so damn romantic is because you can hole yourself up here with great food, cocktails, spa treatments right in the centre of the city. It wouldn't be a Nobu Hotel without some seriously aesthetically-pleasing interiors and, of course, the decor is a nod to Japanese architectural disciplines and minimalist design with subtle touches throughout (we loved the green tea set in the room). Be sure to book in for a romantic dinner at either Roku Japanese Gin Garden at Nobu Portman Square (a more immersive and casual affair) or Nobu Restaurant & Bar - if you know, you know. It's also worth noting that the breakfast in the super plush lounge was the best we've ever had.
