What's the most versatile item in your summer wardrobe? If it's not one of the best one piece swimsuits, it might be time to invest.
Don't get me wrong; summer dresses, sandals, beach bags and linen trousers are all extremely hardworking, but a swimming costume's purpose surpasses the remit of one season – not to mention the fact that they're a wear-anywhere swimwear option, too.
While the itsy-bitsy-teeny-weeny bikini (yellow polka dots optional) provides more surface area for tanning, a flattering one-piece will stand the test of time. Planning on going from beach to bar but don't want to bring a spare outfit? Wear your swimsuit as a bodysuit and you're good to go.
The best one-piece swimsuits for 2024, at a glance:

- Best Amazon one piece swimsuit: Amazon Essentials Women's Thin Strap one-Piece Swimsuit, WAS £26.50 NOW £16.05, Amazon
- Best black one piece swimsuit: Textured Bandeau Swimsuit, £57, Arket

Now those summer travels are filling up our calendars, so too are we browsing our favourite swimwear brands, and from the belted drops at Eres to the strapless and animal print silhouettes all over the high-street, it appears the hottest one-piece swimsuits of 2024 are already beginning to sell out. As such, I'm declaring it officially time to invest in a few new swimsuits (before everyone else beats you to it).
While last season saw designers including Zimmermann and Missoni take on crochet fabrics in the swimwear realm, SS24 is largely about block colours and one-shouldered silhouettes. Look to Versace, Melissa Odabash, Lisa Marie Fernandez and Matteau for confirmation.
When it comes to other one-piece trends, crinkle swimsuits (case in point: Hunza G's ribbed one piece swimsuits) continue to prove ever-popular, and feminine details like strappy necklines are standing out. H&M echoes the free spirit behind their floaty dresses with this halterneck swimsuit, while this cut-out swimsuit from Zara is consistently selling out too.
Whether you're planning on spending the majority of the season in your own garden or you've got the holiday of a lifetime booked, now is the perfect time to experiment. Don't have the luxury of any private outdoor space? Not got a vacation booked just yet? Then why not road-test (park-test?) a new one piece swimsuit style slightly more modestly by wearing it with a pair of your favourite denim shorts? After all, the true test of a great cozzie has always been how many times you can re-wear it.
Don't forget to also shop beach towels, sunglasses and summer hats. We've also got modest swimwear, sports swimsuits and linen dresses ahead of your upcoming getaway. For more from GLAMOUR UK's Senior Commerce Writer Georgia Trodd, follow her on Instagram @georgiatrodd.
