Mid-rise hive, our time has come. While we were all busy fretting about the return of low-rise jeans, Bella Hadid had the courage to take a stand for the humble mid-rise, which is the only correct rise of jeans. And no, I will not be elaborating further or taking any questions.
The model was pictured in Los Angeles wearing mid-rise, boot-cut jeans that are just short enough to show off the tops of her black boots. As per usual, she styled the jeans with some cowgirl-inspired touches, including a leather belt with a chunky buckle and a lacy, long-sleeved white crop top. It’s the crochet collar detail and bell sleeves that make this blouse look like it would look at home in an old timey saloon. Hadid traded her favourite Coach bag for a YSL tote in a similar style for this outfit, and added sunglasses and a few silver rings to complete the ensemble.
For as long as Y2K fashion has been making a comeback, those of us who were there the first time around have been dreading the return of ultra-low-rise flares. But Bella Hadid’s outfit is a good reminder that before low-rise was a thing, there was the mid-rise bootcut. And that is a trend I will happily revisit any day of the week.
Ludicrously capacious arm candy.
