Since arriving at the Venice Film Festival, Angelina Jolie has been full of surprises – from her freshly blonde hair to the long black sleeveless dress that she combined with trainers. And who could forget that draped chiffon gown by Tamara Ralph which was serving major classic Hollywood vibes?

Each of these outfits not only confirmed the actress, director and activist's taste for sober and elegant pieces, but also paid homage to her role as opera singer Maria Callas in Pablo Larraín's new film, Maria. But there is one look that hasn't been talked about enough: the olive green boho dress that she wore with matching heeled pumps on arrival at the festival. It deserves its own moment.

ICYMI: this summer has been all about method dressing on the red carpet. But Angelina has said this wasn't her aim during the film festival. Instead, she wanted to pay homage to Maria ‘The Divine’. Jolie arrived in the Italian city wearing an olive green boho gauze dress by Saint Laurent, which she paired with matching pumps. If you noticed that the cut of the dress makes Jolie look like a Greek goddess, this was no accident — it's a further tribute to Callas' Greek heritage.

And as has been a running theme for Jolie throughout the 81st edition of the Venice International Film Festival, she chose to keep accessories to a minimum with only a ring and bracelet in sight. Taking a leaf from her very own Angelina Jolie School of Dressing handbook, she instead let the dress and the shoes do the talking.

Angelina Jolie is certainly having a moment — and we don't just mean the dress. Her film received a 10-minute standing ovation at the film festival, and she even shed a tear. Not only this, industry insiders are now saying it's more than likely she'll soon have another Oscar to put on display. Mark our words – thanks to Jolie, sophisticated pieces inspired by the 1920s will be everywhere this party szn.
